On Tuesday, October 18th, CrashedToys will sell, via our live online auction, a 1981 Ferrari 308 GTS at the East Bethel, Minnesota location.
If you’re looking for a vehicle with a rich history, you’ve found it!
In 1987, this vintage red 1981 Ferrari 380 GTS was stolen from a car consignment lot in Orange County, California. It was recovered, nearly unblemished by time, 28 years later! U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers discovered this memorable model at a Los Angeles/Long Beach port complex on Friday, April 8th, 2016.
Suspicion arose when customs officers noticed a discrepancy in the car’s VIN, which matched that of a 1982 Ferrari GTS that had previously been exported from the U.S. to Norway, via Germany, back in 2005. After thorough investigation, it was discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen in Orange County on July 19th, 1987.
