Two German Sports Cars Are Just a Bid Away

Posted by

On Wednesday, October 18th, 2017, two Porsche 911s will be sold via CrashedToys Dallas live vehicle auction.

The Porsche 911 is arguably one of the most well-known and recognizable sports cars ever produced. This is due to the 911’s evolution over its lifetime. First released in 1963, The Porsche 911 has seen 6 generations over the past 54 years but still maintains the original overall shape of the car. The 911 can be split into two eras: the air-cooled era and the water-cooled era. The air-cooled era featured rear-mounted engines that were modeled from Ferdinand Porsche’s sketches for the Volkswagen Beetle engine, only larger and more powerful. When the air-cooled era ended in 1998, Porsche introduced the water-cooled engine in the 996 models. This was highly criticized by many purists, but Porsche stuck to them. Today, the Porsche 911 remains one of the most highly sought-after sports cars, and it was voted to be one of the top five most influential cars of the 20th century with the one millionth 911 produced in May 2017.
